The Flood & The Future
• Falicidy Estrada • Series: Build the boat
God’s Judgment is Real – The flood was a divine response to human sin, highlighting that sin has consequences, as emphasized in Genesis 6:5-7 and Romans 6:23. The world ignored God’s warnings until it was too late, much like how society today often dismisses the seriousness of sin and judgment. The World’s Ignorance of Coming Judgment – Matthew 24:37-39 draws a parallel between Noah’s time and the future return of Christ. People lived carefree lives, ignoring the warnings, until the flood came. The same attitude is seen today, where people assume they have time and ignore the impending judgment. God’s Mercy in the Midst of Judgment – Despite the flood’s devastation, God provided Noah and his family with an ark, symbolizing His mercy. Genesis 7:23-8:1 reminds us that even in judgment, God offers salvation. Jesus is our ark, offering refuge from the consequences of sin. A New Beginning After Judgment – The flood wasn’t just about destruction; it was about renewal. After the flood, Noah and his family stepped into a cleansed world (Genesis 8:15-19). Similarly, 2 Corinthians 5:17 teaches that in Christ, we are made new. God’s judgment always opens the door to a fresh start through repentance and faith. Application: The message challenges us to recognize the seriousness of sin, take God’s warnings seriously, trust in His mercy, and prepare ourselves spiritually for what’s to come. Just like Noah, we must walk with God before the storm arrives. Closing Challenge: Are you inside the ark of salvation, or are you waiting too long? The time to respond to God’s mercy is now. The door to salvation will one day close.
